Palisades Tahoe
Palisades Tahoe is one of the largest ski resorts in North America, spread across Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows in California, USA — about 45 minutes from Reno and a few miles from the north shore of Lake Tahoe. It opened in 1949 and hosted the VIII Olympic Winter Games in 1960, the first Olympics ever broadcast live on television. The resort merged with neighbouring Alpine Meadows in 2012, retired its former name Squaw Valley in 2021, and since 2022 the two mountains have been joined by the Base to Base Gondola — one lift ticket now covers eight peaks and 6,000 acres of terrain.

The Base to Base Gondola links the Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows base areas; both can also be reached by car or by the resort shuttle.
