Aspen Snowmass

Aspen Snowmass is a complex of four separate ski mountains in Pitkin County, western Colorado, operated by the Aspen Skiing Company and covered by a single lift ticket. Aspen Mountain — still known locally as Ajax — opened in 1946 with what was then the longest chairlift in the world and rises straight out of the town of Aspen, a silver-mining settlement turned cultural resort. Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass followed, and a free shuttle links all four.

Whether you are hiking the 45 minutes up Highland Bowl for its legendary steeps, taking Longshot for 5.3 mi (8.5 km) off the Elk Camp ridge at Snowmass, learning your first turns on the wide green runs of Buttermilk, or riding the Silver Queen Gondola out of downtown Aspen, each of the four mountains has its own character. Lift Operating Hours
Daily from approx. 9:00 a.m. to 3:30–4:00 p.m., depending on the mountain.
A free shuttle connects Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass Village; the Silver Queen Gondola leaves from the middle of Aspen.
